Validation of pneumatic tube systems in hospitals and laboratories
Hospitals and laboratories use pneumatic tube systems on a daily basis for the rapid transport of blood and laboratory samples. To ensure diagnostic quality, the ISO 15189 standard requires monitoring and validation of transport conditions.
VitalQC® from Motryx enables objective, reproducible and efficient validation of pneumatic tube systems without the use of blood or donor samples. The system measures relevant transport influences such as acceleration, vibration and temperature and automatically evaluates their possible influence on sample quality.
Benefits
- Validation in accordance with the requirements of ISO 15189 and ISO 20658
- No blood samples or donor samples required
- Automated analysis and reporting
- Up to 75% time savings compared to conventional validation methods
- Objective and reproducible measurement results
- Regular quality monitoring following system changes
- Support for accreditation and quality management processes
How VitalQC works
VitalVial® Data Logger
A specially designed data logger, about the size of a blood sample tube, records during transport:
- Accelerations and G-forces
- Vibrations
- Temperature
The transport is carried out under real conditions in the existing pneumatic tube carriers.
VitalApp® Software
The software automatically handles:
- Upload of measurement data
- Analysis and evaluation
- Visualization of transports
- Generation of comprehensive validation reports
This gives users an immediate, clear view of their system’s actual transport quality.
Greater Confidence in Sample Quality
VitalQC evaluates transport conditions using scientifically validated metrics such as the VitalMetric®, which captures the cumulative vibration exposure of samples. This enables the early detection of potential risks for hemolysis and impairment of laboratory test results.
Continuous System Monitoring
Pneumatic tube systems can be re-evaluated following modifications or changes in speed. By comparing data to reference values from previous measurements, VitalQC ensures consistently high transport quality.
Scientifically Validated
VitalQC was developed in collaboration with university hospitals and reference centers in Europe and the U.S. The solution is based on clinical studies and helps laboratories establish and consistently maintain valid quality criteria for sample transport.
